Remarkable Medan

Medan is a city rife that the group around the Deli and Babura river. A taxi from the Polonia Airport to the city should set you back around Rp50, 000. If you like the day exploring, why not take the road around the city or alternatively, store and retrieve your feet spin in one of the city's unique, three-wheeled motorized rickshaws (pedicabs). Full field with Dutch colonial architecture and a lot of old buildings still in use. Medan City Hall, the central Post Office, Water Tower and Titi Hanging rail bridges all make for a great photo opportunity.
Medan Grand Mosque (Grand Mosque) can be found downtown at the corner of Jl Masjid Raya and Jl SM Raja. Moroccan-style building is an unusual built by Sultan in 1906 and features Italian marble, stained glass and carved ornaments many Chinese. Just around the corner from the mosque you will find the Palace Maimun somewhat dilapidated (Maimoon Palace). The palace was built by Sultand Deli Sultan in 1888 and currently still living there.
JMuseum wise, Museum of North Sumatra on Jl HM Joni houses a large collection of artifacts of Sumatra, including some interesting stone carvings of Nias. More ghosts of colonial architecture field can be found along Jl Ahmad Yani Street from the Red Cross and headed north to Merdeka Square. Merdeka Square itself is a former parade ground surrounded by buildings, a beautiful old art deco. If you are after something a little more contemporary culture then why not pop along to the Gallery on Jl Keladi Tondi andes No. 6 for the repair of modern art.
Far out of town, Green Hill Park in Hill City Sibolangit located one hour's drive from downtown and features many of the carnival rides, entertainment, cafes and restaurants. Visits to the park to make the day a really nice out for children. Or, Mirror Theme Park Beach is located on the beach 40 minutes from the city and a water park featuring slides, pool jet ski, and many others.
If you feel hungry after all that, rest assured that a healthy mix of ethnic Medan Batak, Chinese, Javanese, Minangkabau, and even the people of India will ensure a delicious meal. Tip Top Restaurant on Jl Ahmad Yani 92 at one time a place to eat and dates back to colonial times. Nostalgia cow tongue sandwiches and Dutch bitterballen can be ordered from the menu a very nice typewriter print that seems to have stuck in a time warp. Bollywood Food Centre on Jl Barelang No. 7 serving spicy Indian food and various bakeries Malay Indians are also located nearby.
After dark, new and hip Cava Lounge bar may slinkiest in the city and a great place in which to enjoy a few cocktails. Or, Lounge Fitness and Sports Bar Shoot on Jl Pattimura over Captain features a large screen live sports action plus a swimming pool, liv eMusic and DJs. Tavern on the Lake Toba Hotel is currently slightly over the age of 17 on Jalan Imam Bonjol remains a popular nightclub.
